Why Do Humans Need Nature?

Human and Nature's Relationship:
Human's are abusing nature, we are taking nature for granted. We're not making wise choice taking care of nature.
If we continue not caring for the earth, it's possible that we wouldn't be able to be living 50 years from now due to different possible accidents.
Like:
All the ice on Antarctica melted and sink everything on earth.
Not having food because we didn't take care of our trees, flowers, and soil.
Not having medicines because all of our trees are gone.
If the trees are gone we also run out of air.

Things I wrote down while watching the video:
Nature
400 and half billion years
people need nature.
future depends on our action.
if nature thrive we thrive
if nature falter we or worse
She made almost everything on this planet
regard or disregard nature it would still be ready to be evolved.
Water most of the earth
every living thing needs water
humans take more than they share
take advantage
if nature kept getting mistreated humans won't survive.
it covers the earth once can cover the whole earth again
ice keep the world cool
humans keep warming the planets
raise sea level
Rainforest
plants medicine
trees make air
Flower
Feed people, every fruit and vegetable flower starts.
Soil
in the hills valleys, mountains
Treat soil like dirt
full of orgasm to grow plants

Why Is Empathy Important?

Empathy definition according to Collins Dictionary:
The ability to understand someone else's feelings as if they are our own.

What I learnt about empathy.

  • Empathy plays a big role at school, less people would feel left out.
  • Empathy requires time and practice.
  • Empathy could help people feel better about themselves.
What's going on my head while watching the video:
Sometimes you cant tell but most of the time you can't, people put on a mask.
If we find out what people are going through we would treat them better but it's better to always be nice to everyone because you never know what their going through.

Why I think empathy is important:
Empathy is Important because, if everyone show empathy their wouldn't be war or fights because everyone understand each others feelings.

How to be better at empathy:

  • Observe people around you and instead of labeling them try to see what they're feeling.
  • Listen to what they're saying.
  • Open up so people will understand what you're feeling.

Mcleans Island,
Christchurch 8051

Dear Sarah
I would like to thank you for letting us have an amazing experience at Orana Park. I had lots of fun encountering different animals that I haven't even heard of and learning new facts about it. Something I learnt was the ''HIPPO'' which stands for: H- Habbitat lost I- Introduced species P- Pollution P- Population overgrowth  O- Over use. My favourite part was enetering through the The Great Apes, I love seeing the home of the monkeys and looking at  their hand and footprint.

What we did today.
When the bell rung we all went inside our classroom that's when our teachers gave us our designated numbers for our groups, we had a chance of leaving our school equipment in the classroom so we wont get tired strolling around the zoo carrying our heavy bags. Then we all gathered up outside of school patiently waiting for the bus while Ms. Gibson lectures us about the rules and expectation. Finaly the bus arrives, we were divided by our form class, it took about 15 minutes to get there from our school.

After arriving at our destination, we were again split up by our number groups. 2 groups split apart and entered to different gates. This where the adventure begins, we were taken to the zoo school where we entered a circus like room, we had a staff from orana park talk to us for 5 minutes. We had a short morning tea then we went straight to the kiwi area. The kiwi area was dark, Ican hardly see a thing, but I managed to spot a kiwi in the corner. We proceeded looking at different animals in the zoo and learning new facts about them.

I had lot's of fun going on this trip, learning that there's lots of endangered animals, and knowing we should take care of them. We need animals in this world and there's already a lot that's extinc, we should take care of the endangered ones.

Hauora

Hauora

What am I learning?
I am learning the four aspects of hauora.
  1.  Taha Tinana (Physical health)
  2. Taha Hinegaro (Mental health)
  3. Taha Wairua (Spiritual Health)
  4. Taha Whanau(Social Health)
How does this show my learning?
In each wall I wrote the four aspects of hauora and write different ways to show it.

Ways to show hauora:
 Taha Tinana (Physical health)
Taking care of your body and eating healthy nutrional food.
Taha Hinegaro (Mental health)
Taking breaks when stress and relax.
Taha Wairua (Spiritual Health)
Respect other people's beliefs. Go to church, follow your beliefs.
Taha Whanau(Social Health)
Be around friends and family.

How The Body Works

  How The Body Works?

Hair:
The hair can grow almost anywhere in the body, some can be seen but most can't. This is because hair is important, every strand of your hair has a purpose. The hair in your head keeps your head warm, as for eyebrows and eyelashes it protects your eyes from getting any dust, dirt and even your sweat from your eyes, and almost the rest of the hair in your body keeps you warm.

How does hair grow?
It all begins underneath the surface of your skin where two hair follicle merge, eventually a hair bulb will appear and that's where cells multiply and the begins to grow out of the follicle, once the hair is outside the skin's surface the cells die therefore it won't hurt to cut it with scissors.

Why do hair look shiny?
The reason behind why most hair is shiny is because of a liquid called a sebaceous glance. Sometimes sebaceous glance produce to much oil so a person's hair looks greasy.

Why do hair come in different colours?
It depends on how much melanin a strand of hair contains. The less melanin the lighter it gets, a person that has blonde hair has less melanin that a person that has black hair. We lose our melanin as we get older.

Facts!

  • Hair always fall out and gets replaced with brand new hair, hair grows an average of approximately 3m, after three months a hair grows from the same follicle replacing the old one. 50-100 hair falls out everyday.
  • An average hair grows half an inch per month.

Nails:
A nail grows from a nail root like trees, the skin around your nail is called a cuticle, it protects your nails. The white bit at the bottom of your nail is called a lunula, the name comes from the spanish word for moon which is luna.

Business & Enterprise

Business & Enterprise

L.O: Run a profitable business.
S.C:

  • Stick to a given budget
  • Keep track of your spending choices
  • Keep financial records

So far I think that I need to work on this L.O. We need to make our product quicker and organise how many we are going to produce to sell enough to make a profit. We did a moderate job on sticking to the budget however we weren't able to obtain the glue gun sticks because our budget wasn't enough. We kept track of our spending choices and search are needed materials online to get the estimated cost. Also we filled out our finnacial record and managed to finish it early.

What my company did so far.
We are selling picture frames made out of popsicle sticks but not just any ordinary popsicle stick, it's decorated with washi tapes. We finished all our paper work that we needed to do and did our advertisements. From the speed that we are making our products I think we have a chance on finishing and have enough product .

What's our next step?
To have enough production to make profit and packaged our prouduct well.

What you expect on Market Day?
I expect that we will atleast sell enough to make up for the $18.50.

Advertising- Ethos, Pathos, Logos.

Ethos:

Uses a famous/respected person to convince the buyer that it is a good product because we more likely to trust famous people.

They used a famous person (Kendall Jenner) for people to trust their product and get them into thinking itś good.

Pathos:
Way of persuading in a emotional way.

They showed pathos by trying to make people sad by showing what happens in a everday life to a person with cancer.

Logo:

Uses factual/ Statistical stament and surveys to get the buyers to thinking it is real. Also use words that mean nothing but sound factual.

It is giving us a factual information by telling the viewers that it only take 30 seconds.

This ad used two ways of persuading. First, Ethos, they used a famous singer, Taylor Swift which convince people to buy coke so they will forget the fact that it´s unhealthy. Second Logos, they added Extraodinary which is nonsense but sound good.

This ad clearly uses pathos by having a picture of a dead bird so people would feel sorry for the animal so they will stop littering.

Can Opener

CAN OPENER
After waking up from a deep sleep you feel famished, so you decided to prepare yourself a toast with can baked beans. Having the can in front of you, you realised that you require an object to open it with, so you rummage through your drawers to look for a can opener. While trying to open the can you wonder…. How does a can opener work?

What is a can opener?
A can opener is a tool that helps us open cans more efficiently. It consists of three simple machines: a wheel and axle, lever, and a wedge. The two metal arms that are pressed onto the can are levers. The handle that is use to rotate is a wheel and axle. Lastly the wheel that cuts the can open is the wedge. It is a way that is easier and not having to use other resources like knives that would slip if it didn’t get handled carefully. I believe that can openers are important and can help our lives more than we expect.

How does a can opener work?
When using a can opener the first thing to do is apply the arms to the can by tightly compressing it together, that causes the serrated wheels grip into the can. Then start turning the handles, turning the handle(which acts as an axle) causes the serrated wheel to rotate and move the cutter blade across the top of the can that cuts it. A lot of force is needed to keep the cutter down. The cutting blade needs to be stronger than the lid of the can in order for it to work.

How does it cut?
Pretend squishing a butter into your hand. The butter has to move out of the way so it goes out sideways while it gets flattened. However when using a thinner material to cut like the blade on a can opener, the edge is thinner so the pressure(Having the right amount of force to move something)is higher and easier to push through.

How does this simple machine make life easier?
Without having a can opener in everyday life, it makes our lives more difficult by trying to open cans with different resources that can be dangerous like knives, scissors, and other sharp objects.

Now you know how a can opener works,It is fascinating to know how a machine works and realised how complex it is. In summary a can opener works by applying a lot grip on a handle that turns the blade. Also the blade cuts by the pressure.

High Impact -> Car Race Result

What did we do?
Firstly we all had 5 minutes to make changes and modify our car to suit the race. The first race we did was to test which car is the fastest, Miss Richardson is at the bottom of the ramp knealing with her phone on the ground to time us, we went in order of the number of our cars. Next race was the the closest to the green line this time 3 cars go at the same time. Last was the furthest race, everyone had to move out of the way of the way so the car doesn't stop because of them. How was it fair? It was a fair test because we all had the choice of setting the ramp in an angle of our preference also having 5 minutes to modify at the same time and same materials and car.

My 3 Different Modifiactions Of The Car
First

This is our first modifitcation for the first race. We added clay in front so it          has a balanced force with the back and have more gravity acting in front to          increase acceleration. Also we made a spoiler out clay to have down force          which helps it keep the car on the ground and be stable. Sadly car number                                                    6 won the race having 0.87 seconds but we came close with 1.01 second.

 Second
The second was stopping at the green light. We had an idea of adding rubber bands to the car to have friction and slow it down we also kept the clay in front and the spoiler. We are the triumph of the race, we went with number 9 and 10 we came close with number 10 but the second go, number 9 went off the green line.

Third
The third race we did was the furthest, we made a mohawk shaped clay to have aerodynamic and make it go faster and further. We didn't do as good as we did with other races with thid design, we only got

The Results

Our car was good and didn't do as bad as I thougth however it wasn't good enought to win the furthest and fastest. Overall I'm satisfied with the results because we did win on the test of being the closest to the green light.
