English:
In English, We are learning to: Think critically to identify and describe the key aspects of a visual text.
One of our assigned tasks is to make a slideshow of different camera tricks and their names films use to emphasise the scene.
What have we been learning?
We had been learning different camera angles, shots and tricks and identify them.
What am I wondering?
When did films start incorporating these camera tricks?
What would I do differently?
I would add more pictures to show more examples to get a better understanding of different shots.

Traditional Tales
Traditional Tales
I started by making an experiment with the colours of the clay to match with the colour of The Tortoise. Then I started with the shell, I rolled the clay and flattened it a little bit and pushed the middle to give it a curvy shape, I filled the holo shell with dark green clay as the tortoise's body and stuck the head on the top by rolling a small bit of clay and flattening the sides. After creating the model of the tortoise, I tried to sculpt it with a wood stick with a pointy end, I started by carving a hole in the area of the eye and replaced it with black clay, I also carved a hole in the nose area of the turtle to give it a more realistic look, I tried to somehow make the shell look like a tortoise's shell so I carved hexagon-like shapes on the back.
After making the tortoise I started making the hare, like the tortoise, I mixed different coloured clay to make the colour of the hare but I also ended up failing at it, by the time I started there was limited clay left so used what I had left which is brown and mixed it with yellow to somehow make it look like a brown peachy colour but the colour ends up looking like a poo. After trying to make the colour of the clay look as much as the hare, I went on youtube and looked for a tutorial on how to make a hare with clay.
What am I learning?
I am learning to read different types of traditional tales.
How does this work show my learning?
I made a clay model of characters from a story that I read.
What am I wondering?
Why did the author write on his perspective and not either of the hare or the tortoise's.

English-Rewriting Hare And The Tortoise.
The Hare And The Tortoise
Retold by Sofia
Once upon a time there lived a hare, he was the fastest animal in town, he’s faster than anyone or anything! While taking a morning hop he stumbled across a slow tortoise. The hare saw that the tortoise was walking with a beautiful young hare, she had big beautiful brown eyes and the fluffiest ears, he knew he had to get her and beating the tortoise on a race is the only way.
The hare approached the slow-paced tortoise, “hey you slow tortoise!” said the hare frantically jumping up and down, the tortoise slowly turned his head towards the hare, “how….can... I help…. you?” the tortoise replied slowly, “I challenge you to race me in exchange for the beautiful hare next to you” the hare said with a smirk, winking at the lade hare surely knowing that he would win the race, “de..al!” the tortoise said confidently, the hare looked surprised with the reply he got from the tortoise, “ok then, let's have a race tomorrow morning in the park” he replied while running down the path.
It was the next morning, both the competitors were both lined up on the red line, there was a huge crowd watching the race cheering for both of the competitors, the tortoise looked calm and the hare looked fearless. The gun was shot, indicating for them to run, both of them started, the hare swifted across the track looking back at the tortoise grinning, looking back at the sluggish tortoise. On the other hand, the tortoise had a slow start, but he’s not giving up, he is still very determined not caring even if the hare’s lead was huge.
The hare was zooming through the path, skipping and hopping with a big grin on his face, almost reaching the end of the race when he stumbled upon a big patch of grass with fruits and vegetables surrounding it. The hare decided to take a rest not worrying about the tortoise catching up. He stuffed his mouth with grass, fruits and vegetables until he had a food coma, that he couldn’t even move anymore, his eyes started to close on their own but the hare tried to resist until he eventually gave in.
It’s already at the peak of the afternoon when the tortoise’s heavy breathing woke the hare up, the hare’s slumber was disturbed, but it was disturbed for the better if it weren’t for the tortoise’s heavy breathing the hare wouldn’t be able to wake up to finish the race before the tortoise. The hare got up very slowly even slower than the tortoise’s walk and tried to jump but his stomach was too full of food that he couldn’t carry himself. The tortoise was slowly but surely making his way through the finish line whilst the hare is still struggling to lift himself up. The hare was left gobsmacked when he heard the crowd cheering and chanting “tortoise! tortoise!”, the roles have been switched, the hare finally understood what it’s like being slow and learned his lesson to not underestimate anyone.
THE END
Engilish- Reading Matrix
In English, we were tasked to choose different stories from different categories and read it and show our learning in many ways from the matrix our teacher gave us.
What am I learning:
I'm learning to read different types of stories eg fable, Pourquoi, fairytale, myth, parable and legends and show my learning creatively.
What I have done:
Cinderella: Kahoot
Matrix:
For one of the fairy tale, I chose Cinderella, and to show my learning I did a Kahoot quiz on it.

The story is about a beautiful girl named Cinderella, she was living a happy life until her mother died, that lead to her father remarrying, her father ended up marrying an evil woman. The woman came along with her two mean ugly daughters. At first, the evil woman and her daughters were kind to Cinderella but that changed soon after Cinderella's father followed her mother to the grave. They treated her like a maid and gave her a room in their attic.
The prince was looking for a princess to marry so they decided to invite everyone to a ball. Like most of the women, Cinderella wanted to attend the ball so she asked her evil stepmother if she can, she said yes but with hard conditions, she had to clean the whole castle. After cleaning the whole castle Cinderella had time to make a dress, she made a beautiful pink dress. When it was time for the ball her evil stepmother and ugly stepsisters saw her dress and ripped it up with scissors. Cinderella was left devastated when her mother and sisters left the house for the ball and she was left with her tornup dress.
When they're gone Cinderella sat down and cried, when all of a sudden a fairy god mother appeared. She gave Cinderella a blue dress, and a ride to the ball but the spell will only last until midnight. When Cinderella arrived at the ball everyone was mesmerized by her beauty, this caused the prince to go up to her and asked her for a dance. Cinderella had danced and talked the whole night with the prince that Cinderella almost lost track of time, when Cinderella looked at the clock she only had realized it was almost midnight, so Cinderella rushed to get home without saying goodbye to the prince, as she was running she dropped her glass slipper.
Cinderella arrived home just in time her dress and ride disappears and before her evil stepmother and ugly step sisters got home. The day after the prince's herald searched for the princess that fits the glass slipper, he went to Cinderella's home but the ugly step sister only got the chance to try the slipper but it didn't fit so the herald ask if there's anyone, her evil stepmother denied it but Cinderella appeared and asked him if she could, the slipper fit in Cinderella's foot, both her stepmother and stepsisters were shocked.
The herald took Cinderella to the prince and he decided to marry Cinderella and they lived happily ever after.

English: May 10th
For sustained silent reading in English, I read an article about the difference between Born again Christians and Jehova's witness. What I found out is that both religions share simmilar beliefs but the main difference is that JW doesn't believe in the holy trinity (God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit) and they also don't think that Jesus was God in the flesh which separates them from Christianity. This article's purpose is to give information and the target audience are any ages.

Gloriavale-Critical Question
In English, we read a book called Abomination, it's about a 12-year-old girl struggling to keep up with her parent strictness due to their religion. We decided to watch a documentary that's similar to the book that we read. It's a documentary about a Christian community that isolates themselves from the world, they live in a small land near Greymouth, New Zealand.
When would or could this lifestyle cause a problem?
The rapid growth of their population and they’re men and women roles that are very stereotypical. They also have many controversies on the news.
Whose voices do we not hear?
