Maths Craft-Passion Project

12-11-18
For the first day of our Passion Project, Mr Worder had introduced us to two topics, one of which we can focus on later in the term. First, we were assigned to two groups, one doing the Mobus Strip and one in the Menger Sponge, for the first two periods we learnt the topics we got, once we learnt or had an idea of that topic we taught our other group members on the other group what we learnt.

Mobus Strip:
Mr Worder first gave us an understanding of what a Mobius strip is. First, he showed us a loop and asked how many faces and edge there are, there was two faces and edges in the paper ring then he twisted one end and glue it to the other end to make the Mobus strip  and he asked us again how many faces and edges there are, this time there was only one.

After making the Mobus Strip he asked us to cut it in half, the strip turned into two circles, he then asked us to make another Mobus strip and cut it in half but this time to twist it three times and cut the circle less than half and eventually to concoct our own experiment.

Menger Sponge:
Halfway through the second period, we exchanged classroom to learn Menger Sponge, at first I thought it was to going to be challenging but turns out it just was folding papers to make flaps and overlapping them to each other. Although it was easy it is also time-consuming and addicting.

What did I learn?
