Maths Update-June 24th

𝕄𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕔𝕤

What were the main mathematical concepts or ideas that you learnt or that we discussed in class?
One thing I learnt recently in Maths class is learning how to generalise and make a formula, however, I'm still not that confident with it, I still find it difficult in some problems to look for the formula.

A mistake or a misconception I had.
A mistake I had made was thinking too hard about a problem that once you get the answer it was pretty easy to find.

What vocabulary words have you learnt?
A new vocabulary word I learnt was formula, I knew what it meant outside the maths realm but I didn't know what it meant when it comes to algebra.

Maths-Measurement

Measurements

What were the main mathematical concepts or ideas that you learnt or that we discussed in class?
Something I learnt from the past weeks is how to measure the area and circumference of the circle.
A= r²π
C= dxπ

What question do you still have about it?
Who made the formula? How did they come up with the pie and why is it used to measure a circle?

Describe a mistake or misconception that you or a classmate had in class. What did you learn from this mistake or misconception?
I had a misconception of finding the area of a circle by multiplying the diameter by pie instead of the radius which is half of the diameter. I also often forget to square the radius (Multiply it by itself).

What new vocabulary or terms were introduced?
A new word that was introduced to me was 'Circumference' which is the outside of the circle. I was used to calling the outside of a shape, a perimeter that I didn't know a circle has a special word for it.

Maths- 11.2.19

What were the main mathematical concepts or ideas that you learned or that we discussed in class?
I learnt how to identify if the number is divisible by a certain number by adding all the number and see if it's in a multiple of that number.

What question do you still have about___?
Does it work with every number?

What activities have you enjoyed?
I particularly enjoyed doing the "string shape activity " and challenging my brain but also having fun along with my classmates and experimenting with different shapes to create shapes and apply different techniques.
