Jingle Update-part 2

This week we finally get to record in different locations for the ads that we are making. One group went to Dressmart for a meeting, the other went to Mega Air but unfortunately, it was close, for my group, we went to The Hub with Ms Richardson, we filmed 4 shots there. One going in The hub, going up the escalator, running down the hallway and finally running outside the hub.

What am I learning?
I am learning how to make an ad with a catchy jingle.

How does this show my learning?
It shows my learning by filming our advertisement.

What am I wondering?
How can I edit the videos for this ad.

What We Had Been Doing In Technology

Planning and Research:
Our teacher first showed us this video then we got given a piece of paper each with three rectangles, one on top already had the measurement and both are blank. First, we had to find the middle, in order to do that we drew a line across both sides of the wood and one in the middle.

Drawing:
We drew from corner to corner and middle of the wood horizontally and vertically.

Transferring you paper plan on to the timber:
After measuring on the paper we did it on the timber. We drew lines from corner to corner of the wood then drew a line in the middle in order to find the very middle of the wood and drew a circle on it. After doing that we used one side of the block wood (the shorter side) and placed it on the line and trace it, for the uppercase and lowercase t we measured 6cm on both sides of the wood and drew a line from the bottom to the minus sign and for the uppercase I went a little bit over the minus sign.

How did you make it?

  1.  Draw your plan on a paper and measure it.
  2. Draw your measurement on your 3 pieces of wood. (one with a minus sign, one with upper case T and lowercase t)
  3. Drill holes into the piece of wood with the minus sign on it.
  4. Chisel the remaining wood.
  5. File it to make it smooth.
  6.  Cut out both the capital and lowercase T on the radial saw.
  7. (make sure all your wood fit).
  8. File it to make it smooth.
  9. Put it all together.

  2. Fill the petri dish with water and add a few drops of food colouring.
  3. Place the celery stalk in the petri dish and gently clamp it in a place using retort stand, boss head and clamp.
  4. Leave the stalk undistributed for 24 hours.
  5. Remove the stalk from the clamp and petri dish. Cut the stem about 1/3 of the way up the stem.

Health: Conflicts

Conflicts:
What did you learn?
I learned that there are three ways to approach a conflict.

When discussing conflict styles what did you notice about yourself?
I tend to approach conflicts aggressively.

How can you reduce conflict during the Business and Enterprise kete?
During the Business and Kete, I would be able to reduce conflict by responding with it assertively. If someone in my team made a mistake and blamed me for it, we can just talk it out.

Give an example when you might need to keep calm during Business and Enterprise kete?
If one of the projects failed we can always try again.

Health: Mindfulness

Mindful:
What did you learn about?
I learned that mindful is about being aware of your surroundings, it can be your hearing, taste, sight, and touch. You can also be mindful of people by thinking before speaking.
Being mindful taught me to be aware of my surroundings and made me remember.

Was there anything you felt difficult to understand? why?
It was difficult to understand information about how to show mindfulness towards
 people.

Health: Resilience

Resilience:
What did you learn about?
I learned that resilience is not about giving up.
My favorite saying connected to resilience is:
Image result for resilience quotes
Was there anything you felt difficult to understand? Why?
No
How did you relate to "Who moved my cheese?"
I relate to the guy that didn't want to get out of my comfort zone even if there's no more cheese and he gave up but it taught me to get out of my comfort zone so I can experience new and better give up.
How can you apply your new knowledge to the Business Kete?
While working in the business kete things can easily go wrong but you can use resilience by not giving up no matter what.

Health: Problem Solving

LO: Communicate what you have learnt and how you will apply what you know to the Year 9 Business Kete.

What did you learn about?
I learnt that there can be many solutions to a problem and there can be cases where it can be a win-win situation if you just talk about different solutions. I also learnt that in order to solve many problems is that I should stop using negative thoughts, I can do this by using questioning thoughts and turning it into positive thoughts.

When discussing "Thought Challenges" what did you notice about yourself?
I noticed that I tend to think negative thoughts.

What solutions can you try when you face a challenge during the Business & Enterprise Kete? Give an example.
We can try to talk it out and come up with a solution and agree on one.

Jingle Update

For the second week of making our Jingle, we have done writing the letter to The Hub for permission to film there. People are still making the jingle, writing the lyrics and playing around on the keyboard.

What am I learning?
I am learning how to make an ad with our own jingle on it.

How does this show my learning?
This shows my learning by preparing to film by asking for permission to the places we are going to.

What am I wondering?
I'm wondering if we will be able to make it in time.

How To 3D Print?

Technology:
In technology, our teacher has been teaching how to 3d print we started with creating name tags on Tinkercad then he taught us how to convert an image to a 3d print using Online Converter. After playing around online converter he also introduced us to Thingiverse where a lot of creators upload models to 3d print.

What I did in Tinkercad:
We went through the tutorials first to know what we're doing. After the tutorials, we played around the shapes and eventually created something beautiful
.
.
.
Models I created using Online File Converter:
We chose an image that is not complicated from google then we went to Online File Converter and converted the image to an STL file after converting we went back to Tinkercad and chose import
transferred the file there.
.

.

Thingiverse:
We searched through the library of thousands of 3d models in Thingiverse when we found the one we downloaded it and went to the folder to look for the SVG file to put it into Tinkercad.

Investing Refraction Through Lense

Aim: To investigate how different types of lenses refract light.

Equipment: Triple-slit ray slide, power supply, a concave lens and convex lens.

Method:

  1. Set up ray box, triple-slit ray slide, and power supply
  2. Place convex kens in the space below place the ray box at the top of the page and shine the three rays of light at the lens. Make sure the central light at the lens. Make sure the central light ray hits the lens at 90 degrees as indicated in the diagram.
  3. carefully trace the directions of the incoming and refract rays.
  4. Repeat using the concave lens.

Refraction

Aim: To investigate how light is affected by changing the substance it is traveling through.

Equipment: ray, power source, glass or perspex block, single-slit ray slide.

Method: Collect the equipment from your teacher, and set them up to produce a single beam of light.

Results: The light was slightly off the angle of incidence either towards or away from normal.

How Do Curve Mirrors Work?

Aim: To investigate the reflection of light rays in concave and convex mirrors.

Equipment: Ray box, triple-slit ray slide, and power supply

Method:

  1. Set up your ray box, triple-slit ray slide, and power supply.
  2. Place mirrors on your book as indicated below. Place ray box at the top of the page and shine 3 rays of light at the mirror.
  3. Ensure that the middle ray of light at the mirror.
  4. Carefully trace the direction of the three incident rays and three reflected rays.
Results:

The reflected light was the same as the incident light.
