My Memoir

First day at Hornby High School

Driving through the school gates my feelings transitioned from excited to anxious real quickly. I opened the white car door nervously, wobbily strolling to my class. I started to feel left out because I didn’t have a school uniform yet and almost everyone know each other because most of them are from the same school.  We went inside the classroom and my dad chatted with my new teacher, I observed my new classroom, it looked very vibrant and modern.

When I heard the echo of the bell, the butterflies in my stomach spread all over my body, for a second there I almost panicked, I was telling my dad that I wanted to go home trying to hold back the tears that was about to fall. I rushed straight to the car trying to avoid people staring at me, I heard my dad’s footstep getting stronger. I tried covering my face hoping I could rewind the day and saved myself from getting embarrassed.

Scientific repport on paper planes

Aim:
To use my understanding of forces to try to construct a paper plane that is stable and flies in a straight pace.
To see who builds the best paper plane by distance by measuring it.

Hypothesis:
Everytime I toss my paper plane it goes the opposite direction but If I throw it backwards it will go the way I wanted, I believe that it will fly about approximately 1.5m.

Forces on Paper Planes:

Lift⬆️,Gravity⬇️,Thrust➡️and Drag⬅️.
In order for the Aeroplane to fly in a straight pace, the forces needs to be balanced.

Methods:
I constructed the plane that is currently holding the world record. I figured that if I use the world record plane it would help me win the class competion.

This is the video that helped learn how to make the plane.⬆️

Results:
My plane flew straight about 3.5 metres at first but curved and bumped into an object and stopped.

Discussion:
I've learnt the different forces on a plane. If I would do this again, I would fold my paper planes more carefully.

Which will drop first?(Predction)

My prediciton:
I believe that the basketball will drop first because it's has the least mass and easier for the gravity to push down.

Discover The World- Kupe Reflection

What have we been learning?
Explaining New Zealand's national identity and how it's been shaped.
How cultural practices become shared experiences and part of national identity.
Success Criteria
Demonstrate citizenship skills

If I did this again what would I do differently?
I would do an activity that uses more writing and something more challenging.

Something I am wondering or a question I have for completing this work?
While I was doing my netball writing, I was wondering why the teachers from England decided to introduced netball to british colonies country, did they think that everyone will love it or they wanted to make a competion in the fututre about it

How I think my work shows my learning?

I achived one of the L.O's by explaining one of the things that make NZ, NZ which is the language slang that tourists wont probably understand.
This shows my learning because I wrote the history of one of the most played sports in NZ. I wrote about how it's created and how it got to NZ.

I showed what the famous foods are in NZ and how Kiwi's ussualy eat it or how it's made.
Whakatauki's are part of Maori culture and I drew what one of them means.

Why Do People Dance?

There are many reasons why people dance.

3 Main reasons why people dance.

  1. Socialize
Back in the 1960's where there's not much to do, people go to dance clubs to socialize, have fun and to meet new people.
