Jessica Advertisment

JESSICA

There is a clear connection in the meth advertisement, Jessica to the theme of the harmful effects of drugs. The theme is reflected through the clear darkness brought into Jessica’s life after taking the illegal substance. This is demonstrated through the first shot, the audience was introduced with the scene of the crowd-less stadium drowned out by the white lights. As the narrator explains how Jessica was a former cheerleader the blinding light shuts off and the audience was left with nothing but darkness. This was done to represent Jessica’s life, the colour white symbolises her innocence before she was tied to the drugs. As meth crippled into her life, so did the darkness, her innocence transformed into depression and turned her into someone she doesn’t recognize. This aspect can also be seen in the film, Walk The Line. The famous singer, Johny Cash, has always been adored by people and has constantly been in the spotlight. As drugs and alcohol started to control his life, the crowd lost interest and decapitated like his limelight.
